Scuba diving in La Herradura, located on the Costa Tropical east of Malaga, is widely regarded as some of the best diving in southern Spain. The bay sits beside the protected Cerro Gordo Natural Area, where the clear Mediterranean water and dramatic underwater terrain create excellent diving conditions.

The Horseshoe, also known as La Herradura Bay, gives the area its name and is one of the most scenic diving locations on the Costa Tropical.

Depths here vary depending on the dive location, typically ranging between 10 and 25 metres, making it suitable for many certified divers.

El Chambao

El Chambao is a well-known dive site featuring impressive rock formations and underwater terrain shaped by volcanic activity.

The dive site includes large boulders and reef structures that create crevices and hiding places for marine species such as scorpionfish, octopus and nudibranchs. Schools of fish often move through the area, making the site lively and interesting to explore.

Tres Picos

Tres Picos, meaning “Three Peaks”, is named after the distinctive underwater rock formations that rise from the seabed.
